Guided Meditation: The Basics

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GUIDED MEDITATION, YOU ASK?

The basics of a guided meditation.

The phrase itself is an explanation of its meaning. If you still find it somewhat vague, picture the following: a person or a group of people meditating and being guided through the process by a professional guide; a person reading a meditation script while you meditate; a CD, audio recording, or video, you bought or prepared yourself to help you through the mediation process.

All of these are examples of a guided meditation. Since one is supposed to acquire a state of deep relaxation during any meditation, guides are a good motivator. Many people access guided meditations through you tube or similar, but coaches and meditation teachers are invaluable to teach you the basics well. But accessing the online guides or digital formats has its benefits.

So, what is nice about a guided meditation like this? Well for one a guided meditation is often cheaper than a private session. If you use tools like CD’s or YouTube or if you ask the help of a friend to guide you, it wouldn’t cost you as much as a private one to one teacher led session would.

Though, these private sessions are of course considered as guided meditations as well.

Re-direction to Peace

A guided meditation can make you understand the basics of meditation more clearly. It can help you get rid of all distractions and meditate more effectively.

Most of the group guided meditations have particular goals, from physical healing to spiritual-related goals. While guided meditation may be used to achieve healing, the guides are not the healers though. Your naturally healthy state is just being restored through the flow of energy freed by your meditation.

A lot of websites offer information on self-meditation and guided meditation. Most of these sites even provide prepared scripts, sounds, and several calming images for exercise to help you stay focused.

Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.

As mentioned, YouTube is full of many different forms of guided meditation to deal with everything from sleep issues to relationship breaks ups and cellular healing, so go and take a browse.

It is like a giant virtual guided meditation room of some sort with the same goals – to provide you with minutes of deep relaxation and reflection.

If you think adults are the only ones who need meditations, think again. There are actually many online guided meditation site for kids. Visiting ‘youtube kids’ will also have you lost in many magical recordings for kids that you might even love yourself

They take kids to a place so serene and revitalizing. The scripts are very interesting and will mostly make kids stay focus on the meditation exercises.

Some guided meditations provide around thirty minutes of relaxing music to calm the mind and body. A guide’s voice can sometimes be heard over the beat of the music to cue you on what to think of and how to stay more deeply focused. These guided meditations can be practiced alone or with a group.

Using CD’s or commercially available recordings will also give you the same features.

When meditation is mastered, the mind is unwavering like the flame of a candle in a windless place.

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless – like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.
